The Gifted and Talented program is a great opportunity for eligible students younger than 16 who have completed the seventh grade and are looking at taking credit courses at AACC prior to high school graduation. Eligible Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) students can take classes without paying tuition and fees and can receive required course materials at no charge. To have your full tuition and fees waived, you'll need to select one of the eligible courses determined by AACPS. If you select a course that is not approved for AACPS ECAP benefits, complete the Maryland Public High School Tuition Discount Request Form to request a 25% tuition discount for credit classes. Eligible Maryland homeschooled students or students that attend a private school in Maryland can take classes with a 25% tuition discount for credit classes.

Who is Eligible to Participate?

Public school students, students living in Maryland who have met the verification guidelines for homeschool or students enrolled in private schools in Maryland are eligible to take courses at AACC. 

With the approval of your school principal, counselor or appropriate school official, you can get a jump start on your educational goals. Eligible students may participate through the spring term of their senior year subject to AACC’s Gifted and Talented admissions criteria outlined below. 

Steps to Enroll

Gifted and talented students (under 16 and having completed seventh grade) must receive preapproval.

• Visit your school district's webpage to determine restrictions and eligibility. Contact your school counselor for information about the preapproval process.
• Attend a Gifted and Talented Virtual Information Session to learn enrollment steps and discuss course selection.
• If you’ve not applied to AACC, submit your application for admission. After completing your application, you will receive instructions for setting up a MyAACC student account.
• Take the English Accuplacer. You must also take the Math Accuplacer if the goal is to enroll in a math or science course. Visit our Testing page for information.
• The director of Admissions and Enrollment Development is your academic advisor. The director will work with the appropriate deans with course oversight responsibility to determine your eligibility to enroll. Once your eligibility to enroll is approved, the director will make sure you are registered.
• Attend an ECAP orientation.
